About Me

Hi, I'm Felix Wong. I guess you want to know a little about me. Firstly and most obviously, I'm Catholic. I was baptized when I was a few months old and have been with the Church ever since. The first eight years of my life was spent in Hong Kong, where I was born. My family then immigrated to Toronto, Canada, which is where I reside to this day (ok, ok...I live in Mississauga now, a suburb outside Toronto). Above is a picture of me, my beautiful wife Renee and adorable daughter Adele.

I grew up as most Catholic boys do, attending a Catholic school, but had no real understanding of the faith. In 2001, I rediscovered my faith through an evangelization concert at my church. My life has never been the same since and I thank the Lord for that.

By schooling and trade, I am no big shot financier. I studied engineering in school and has worked as a systems engineer ever since graduating in 2004. The company I work for (ATS) actually makes pretty cool automation machines. It is publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange (ticker: ATA). Anyway, where was I? Yes, investing...anything that I write on this blog is purely self-taught from reading investment books and from living through (barely) two great bear markets (2000 dot-com bust and 2008 sub-prime meltdown). As you probably know, engineers love numbers and I'm no exception. So, my educational background will bring a somewhat more data-based approach.

As for the "Catholic" perspective, I may have a bit more credentials. With more than a few years as an instructor for my church's Confirmation program and having run the teenager RCIA program just last year (RCIT as we call it), I'm fairly familiar with basic Church teachings. I'm also currently enrolled in the Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) program at the University of Toronto. I'm hoping it will help me deal with the various issues surrounding investing that we shall explore in my blog.
